Engagement Ceremony at Indonesia

SAlam.

Alhamdulillah, my last Oral Skill Case Assessment test (OSCA)in UNPAD has over. I'm happy with my result. Finally i can menarik nafas lega.Congratulation to all my fellow friends who passed with flying colors. For those who didn't do it well don't get down...we still have another final test (OSCE) this thursday..

First of all it's not me who is engaged....

I just want to share my experience attending an Indonesian Engagement ceremony on March 8th (SUnday). The future bride is my friend & aerobic 2nd instructor(the 1st one is her older sister who owns the gym with her husband) .

Her name is Euis. Since Malaysia and Indonesia are in the same Malay Archipelago, there are not so much different compare to us (Malaysia).
The wedding will be on August or September.

Me,Euis and the 3 little cute rascals..

I & Salmi are the only Malaysian who attend it.Others are the family members and our fellow aerobic friends.

The ceremony was done at the future bride house

Here are the chronology:

1. Future Bridegroom & family came from Bandung

2. Opening ceremony. There are speeches given by the future bride's side(unfortunately they are in Sundanese language, luckily an elderly women sit next to me kindly translate it to us.

3. The future Bride recite the Al-Quran.

4. Speech from the future bridegroom's father.

5. The future bride was asked weather she is single or not and does she oppose this engagement ...of course Euis says no..what a chaos will it be if she says YES!

6. The ring goes to the finger of the future bride...And vice versa(yup, unlike us the guy have to wear an engagement ring too)

7. Salam and restu from both parents

8.Sundanese food Feast(nyum..nyum..) & silaturrahmi(get to know each other)

CONGRATULATION to Euis!!...she's only 19 and is getting married.

Irony,I'm 20 and going to be 21 and still have no one...hehe..(single&happy me..(",))

This post is the continuation from My family at Bandung..

Finally, the prince(my bro) wed's card successfully produced on time..
On Saturday, March 7th,Agent Aishah have to sacrifice her 'final exam' study hours to collect it at Pasar Baru,Bandung City and drop it at Karmila Hotel (which my mum's friend will stay next week, they will bring it back to Malaysia)
Unfortunately, due to agent Aishah final exam, she can't be their tour guide around Bandung.

The prince(my bro) with the princess (my future sis in law):

The good thing is, the prince agreed to BELANJA Agent Aishah during his visit with his 2nd man(Anas-my 2nd bro) at Bandung during their visit in late April.
So, reminder to the Prince: Make sure you're ready with a 'full pocket'. Credit card is acceptable...hehe

P/S: i'm just KIDDING!!..of course. i'm fulfilling my duty as a GOOD sis sincerely..iklhas..tp nak belanja apa salahnya..LOL (",)

Spongy jello....

SAlam..
i learned this recipe from my friends during 'cafe Nida' while the guys doing their Friday prayer at the mosque.

Simple and easy. Even a small kid can do this.

INGREDIENT A

1 packet of 'Konyaku' jelly, chocolate flavor (small)
water ( according to the measurement from the jelly packet)
4 table spoon of susu pekat
1/3 glass of sugar
cocoa powder

INGREDIENT B

1 tea spoon of corn or wheat flour
1/2 glass of water
1 tea spoon of sugar
1 tea spoon of susu pekat

HOW TO MAKE IT??

1. Mix all ingredient A
2. Cook it until it boil
3. Add in 3 pieces of bread ( cut into large pieces) to make it more spongy
4. Let it cool in the bowl or mold
5. Put it in the fridge
6. Next, make the sweet gravy:
* mix ingredient B and cook it with small fire till it boil
* let it cool
6. Serve the sweet sauce with the cool spongy jelly

Our last trip...

BIOETHICS & HUMANISM PROGRAM (BHP)...
When I first learn that I'll have it as our minor subject during my 3years in Medical school...I thought Aah,another boring subject to help us keep up the GPA..

However, it turn out to be an interesting subject that talks about life as doctors, how to treat the patient well.Basically, we were taught to be an ethical doctor.

We have to visit the health care service twice each semester and discuss about it in a mini seminar.

I think, my last Extramural visit in Indonesia was the most memorable one.

We visited Rumah Sakit Khusus Ginjal Ny R.A Habibie. It is the biggest dialysis center in Indonesia not in size but in the number of dialysis equipments( currently 43 machines). It was founded by Ibu Sri Soedarsono (sister of Presiden Habibie-the 3rd President of Republic of Indonesia) in August 8th 1988( 2months older than me)

90% of the patients are under government insurance or charity. The condition is very good like a private hospital or even hotel...
How they manage to be like this?

1. The founder have good relation with the dutch authorities.
they provide used dialysis equipments(cost:500million rupiah each)from Netherlands that are still in good condition.
2. The employee are dedicated in giving good services & loyal to organization.
3. They save their expanses by producing their own sterile water (which is the major usage for the dialysis process-they save about 30% of the expenses).
4. The employee are competent and received training in Netherlands.
5. They get bargain price for the medical equipments because this hospital have high influence in other dialysis center in Indonesia( whatever they used will be followed by other center)

Why dialysis is a burden?
1. Patient with Kidney failure have to do this 2-3 times per week( each week cost 800 rp or RM300-400)
2. Most patient are dependent on others and have to quit their job.
3. Without dialysis patient will eventually die.
4. They have to come to dialysis center and undergo each treatment for 4hours

What impressed me?
1.They give a holistic approach, medically & psychologically:
* If the patient miss the session, they will call up the patient.
* If patient refuse dialysis they will find the reason and try to make them agree to undergo dialysis(without it the patient will die)
* There are nurses & volunteers that support the patient psychologically

2. The equipments their received from Netherlands are also distributed to other places the need the machine for poor and under government insurance patients.

3. They didn't choose their patient

4. Their existence is for charity.

A break:Tea with yummy brownies & crispy kerepek..hmmm
(from left: Alia, Suhaijah ,Inatan & Me)

Something interesting I found in the hospital
Guess, what is this?? A chair....reconsider your answer again, cause it is not just a chair

It is a weight measuring device!!
