Raya & my holiday project in the kitchen (>,<)

Happy Eid to muslim bloggers!!

FInally,After 4weeks of hectic life as medical student at Medical department, i get to be a mad scientist in the lab...(meaning the chef in the kitchen) haha...it was fun to try out the recipes and experiment on your own cook food.

This year i learned how to make 'ketupat daun palas'. I was suprised that they sell daun palas at Malacca. My mum told me the leave is also used by Malacca people to make desert (kueh)..We made it,Since this food rarely found in Malacca (origin from Kelantan-terengganu).

It takes me quite some time to master this triangle shape casing.

Another food i miss but hard to get in KL is Kerabu Mangga !! The kerabu mangga i found in KL does not have fish in it.Time to make one at home..yippeee

This year is the 3rd eid celebration at my new house in Malacca. This year decided to host a small feast (open house) for our neighbours and extended family around KL, Malacca & Muar. We also celebrate my 1st nephew 1 year old birthday. It was fun. Since our lawn is quite spacious the childrens love to play football and fireworks there.

Birthday boy with his cousin in his Bumblebee (A gift from Mama Tok)

Other projects are some biscuits and my very own bread pudding. Love the oven so much. I wish i can have one at college..with a set of my own kitchen..

Last but not least, I still get 'duit raya'..haha..Even 2 of my cousin (same age as me) who just started working, also gave me their very own duit raya..Oh, i just love being a student. This will be the last year. The privilage will expired & i have to started giving next year (>,<) Insyallah..Misi Jubah Merah 2012!!

Happy Birthday!!

The picture above taken during last raya..Abg Memen busy teaching Adik to ride bicycle.

SAlam..

Today is my beloved Mama's birthday. Alhmadulillah, i think finally she found more peaceful life after our family decided to move to Malacca from Kuala Lumpur.

The previous school was an all-boys-famous-secondary government school in Kuala Lumpur. It was busy, hectic and full with high expectation. Being the 2nd person in charge with the school she have to deal with both teachers and students...and also parents. The Principal always outstation to meet the course and activities by government for the school principal, leaving my mum in charge. My mom have to adapt to this condition after 21 years happily teaching at an all-girl-school that gave less pressure.

Glad for my mum, she's sound more happy and less irritated. Funny, she event complaint to me she don't know what to do at the school(too relax after the hectic life at KL) because all the teachers are very cooperative and do their job well. The students are well behave and didn't cause much problems. The school was my dad secondary school. Moreover, Malacca is a nice small city compare to the busy KL...Well, i live most of my life in KL.Can't wait to get back to the new home(",)

HAPPY 53rd BIRTHDAY MAMA!

May you found more happy, less stress and peaceful life.I miss you!!

Finally, the prince(my bro) wed's card successfully produced on time..
On Saturday, March 7th,Agent Aishah have to sacrifice her 'final exam' study hours to collect it at Pasar Baru,Bandung City and drop it at Karmila Hotel (which my mum's friend will stay next week, they will bring it back to Malaysia)
Unfortunately, due to agent Aishah final exam, she can't be their tour guide around Bandung.

The prince(my bro) with the princess (my future sis in law):

The good thing is, the prince agreed to BELANJA Agent Aishah during his visit with his 2nd man(Anas-my 2nd bro) at Bandung during their visit in late April.
So, reminder to the Prince: Make sure you're ready with a 'full pocket'. Credit card is acceptable...hehe

P/S: i'm just KIDDING!!..of course. i'm fulfilling my duty as a GOOD sis sincerely..iklhas..tp nak belanja apa salahnya..LOL (",)

My family at Bandung

My mama & first brother came to Bandung for the wedding card. My aunt(my mum's sis) & her family also come along.I becomes their tour guide for two days.
The first day, i brought them shopping at Pasar Baru. It is a 8 storey building selling wide range of goods. Popular items are: telekung, clothes, indonesian head scarft..etc.Most women can consider this place as their favorite place at Bandung..hehe.
However, if u never or rarely shop there, u'll easily lost because the escalator to go up & go down is seperated and complicated.Lucky they have me as the tour guide..hehe
My brother manage to get his wedding invitation card. Each cost him 2,500rp...about 80sen kot..very cheap. My mum wins against me in choosing the card..huhu..Maybe mom knows the best..Definitely i'll have her as my wedding consultant.Love you mama!

The next day(friday) i bring my family to Kawah Putih at Ciwide about 2 hours from Bandung city.It was so cold..about less than 10 degree Celsius.Lucky i brought along my shawl. The place is actually a sulfuric lake which is an active volcano site( considered as Grade A).It is a must-to-go-place if u visit Bandung.I prefer to go there than Tangkuban perahu(another volcano site). This is the third time i visit the place.Once during first year with my classsmate and 2nd time in 2nd year with my family in 2007.My family love the place.
Happy to make my family happy (",).That night, i rush back to Jatinangor for a trip to Pagandaran Beach with other Malaysian students by bus at 2230.What a busy but happy weekend..hmmm

LAtest mission at Pasar BAru..

Agent Aisha...u have a new task at Pasar Baru,
'Find the wedding card for our Crown Prince'
make sure its worth it ( nice & cheap of course).....Queen Mama

haha...

just making the introduction interesting..

Even though I'm across the sea away from home, I'm glad that I can help my Mum prepare My first brother's wedding. It will be on May and is the first in my family. How couldn't i be so excited about it? Plus, i like weddings....especially in my big family(involving cousins)

At the same time, my friend & ex-floor mate(at Bale Padjadjaran) also get the same mission from her sister (bride to be this coming July)....congrats King!
So, King & I headed to Pasar Baru(famous shopping center in Bandung)today .

On the way, we met Izmeer with a package in his hand.Out of curiosity, of course we asked him what is it? In summary, he send his books to Malaysia little by little (per 10kg) each week by post(by sea). This is his second week.He have to post it at Jalan Asia-Africa (at Pasar BAru). The cost is cheap...nearly 200,000rp(RM80) for 10kg.He planned not to take the contenna to send his belonging. This is impossible to me because i have a collection of books..clothes..etc.However, i know now how to send things outside Indonesia in a reasonable price.

Ok..back to the weddding card..At pasar baru
First,we skip the ground floor...Next, we explore the first floor.jln2...pusing2..nothing...go the second floor..explore the left side...nothing..try our luck on right side...Finally its there..'Yang paling pojok di ujung'

At first, all the cards i choose is between 4,000-7,000rp/card(~Rm2-3).Then, i call Queen mama for confirmation on price.."Syah,mama nak Sekitar RM1 je..Cik Lia(my aunt) buat untuk Farhan(my cousin) pun RM1.80 je.Kalau bawah RM1 lg bagus.Kalu tak mama buat di Malaysia je. "..
O..K...i already over the budget, so i try to find the cheaper cards..Its not dat difficult because the shop have variety of cards. After some informed consent(informing&getting the permission),I choose some and take the pictures to email it to the bridegroom to be (Crown prince)..

these are my favourite..they are less than RM1.50/piece:

I forgot one thing when i look for the card and think my mum will approve RM2-3 card.
Isn't it a waste to spend a lot on a wedding card??I think, when we get a wedding invitation card, no matter how expensive or magnificent it is, u will eventually throw it away. The purpose of wedding celebration ceremony is to spread the news that the celebrated couple is already married to the relatives, friends & community we life with.I learned that if a person are invited to a wedding ceremony,it is a must for him to come unless there's 'darurat' or something that may prevent him to go. Correct me if i'm wrong.Islam is simple!Wedding shouldn't be a burden to the bride/bridegroom.It suppose to be as simple& cheap as possible. The purpose & advantage of wedding is to prevent 'fitnah on 'zin'a or 'khalwat' about the newly wed and a wedding ceremony is a way to inform people that they are already married.Plus, we get to make the 'silaturrahim'(bonding) among people who are invited & the newly wed couple families tighter.

My parent always try to attend weddings of relatives & close friends. They said, this is the only way that you can reunite with the host, especially after haven't see them for years. For example, i never met my Singaporean relatives since young(been there for a wedding too)till my cousin's wedding a few months back.
Therefore,in conclusion wedding ceremony does make the silaturrahim tighter and makes you get to know your family members better and it shouldn't be a burden economically to the newly wed.

Mission Accomplish at Pasar baru..
