Revised topic:Muslim Government Doctors Criteria

Salam...this is an entry written by a friend (also my batch mate) as a feedback on Malaysian GOvernment Doctors Criteria. It is something we all medical students should read and think of!!

1. There is life outside medicine. Who said so you can't have life outside medicine. That's ridiculous. Think! There is doctor who is married with doctor in the same hospital. Also, there is doctor who is dating with staff in the hospital, including nurses! Well, that's what I call dating. Sport? Walking, running in the hospital isn't that call sport? Don't be "closed-minded" Think! There is doctor who joins the Fitness First. Clubbing? A muslim should avoid this. You know that. Think! Can't do chores for your parents? Of course you can’t if you are not living with them in the same house. But wait, praying Dua’ for your parents isn’t that one’s must do? That’s one simple chore you can do for your parents. Think! Even, there are doctors who become a member of NGO of Islamic Society eg. IKRAM, KARISMA, JIM, others as to dakwah. Think! The is life outside medicine. It’s just you who make your life in such a cocoon. Think!

2. When you are in the working profession, you earn your own money. You have your own life. Still living with parents under one roof and being pampered by them? Of course not. And of course you can, if you want to. Well, not only doctors who are not living with their parents! Don't you think so? Think! Move out of the house ASAP because your parents wouldn’t understand your job? Please don’t follow this advice. Don’t run away from your parents. They wouldn’t understand your job? They’ve raised you up until you are able to stand on your own feet. They know you. They will know. They never come to hospital watching how a doctor working? I bet your mom had admitted to any Gynecology ward before this. Think!

3. Bila jodoh dah sampai seru dan berkemampuan, berkahwinlah. Sememangnya fitrah manusia ingin saling mencintai dan dikasihi. No need to wait until you have complete for the Govt compulsory services. There is medical student who married during study. There is houseman who married her registra. Think! There is life outside medicine.

4. Get baby as soon as possible after getting married. Well, depend on your luck. Rezeki Allah bg lain-lain. Fikir balik. Apekah tujuan berkahwin? Think!

5. Follow the work protocols in your hospital. That what keeps you safe. Think!

6. 36 hours working non stop? Trust me, you can sleep in between. Yes, I’ve seen doctors doing it. Are you really sure non stop? Muslim has break for prayers. Isn’t that enough? How many doctors have died because of this? None. Think! Everybody can do it.

7. Don’t drive if you know that you are drowsy or disoriented. Don’t be stupid. Get a taxi. Be smart, be safe. Think!

8. Coffee contain caffeine, and some how it can cause tolerance. If you are a coffee lover, of course you need constant supply of it. For coffee hater like me, better to avoid it. Find a better way to keep you fresh. Think!

9. Managing stress is very important. I’m sure you have had experienced any stressful event in your life. But yet, you managed to get over it. How? Nicotine patch? Definitely not. You are doctor. Don’t abuse drug. That’s why you learn psychiatry aren’t you? Think!

10. Don’t get over influenced by the media. That’s are all movies to be watched by the people all over the world. Of course the story line are all made up and making its much interesting. Don’t you think so? Do you think that the doctors’ life in the movies (House, Scrubs, Grey Anatomy) resembles its own doctors’ life in its country? Do you think so? Think! Do you think that you can get better life in other hospital than in Malaysia? How better is better? Think!

11. There are doctors who have gardens at their houses. Yes, they have maid. So?

12. Try to walk around with houseman in the hospital during your practical year. Don’t forget to smell them. Do they smelly? Never in my experience! They have time to take a break, and have bath. Think!

13. Fasting. Islam has trained you to stay empty stomach, right? Sacrificing yourself to save someone’s life isn’t that beautiful? Think!

14. Doctors do deserve MCs. Who says so that they’re not deserve to get one?! Remember, we are all human being and human gets sick when they get sick. Don’t you think so? Nobody is perfect. My supervisor had MC because she had sore throat. What?! Sore throat? Think!

15. Scolding, destructive criticism, racial bias, finger pointing from your supervisors are nothing. I am very sure you have trained to become resistant with all of these negative tortures during your practical years. Think! Why they do that? They love you. They want to make you a better doctor. They don’t want you to make mistakes. This profession involving lives. This is not a playground. Think! You want being pampered by them? Being nicely treated by them? This is not kindergarten anymore. Think! I love being scolded. That what keeps me moving on.

16. You think your life will be just confined to the hospital only? How many doctors having fun with families, travelling around the world, win noble prizes, etc, etc, etc………..? Think!

Never regret of what you are doing now, Medical Students…
Isn’t this your school-age AMBITION?Yer cikgu, saye nak jadi dokter. Saye nak bantu orang sakit.
Wasn’t that your kiddy answer?
Yes, you wanted to be here. Yes you are.Think! Think back.

Its not easy to get you here. Yes, here. How many years had you struggled to get you in this profession. You are now half-step distance to become a doctor. Never turn back.

I do believe that my life has been planned by Allah. Why am I here? Because Allah had planned for me to be here. Ouh, I need to find the hikmah behinds these. Allah knows what is the best for His servants.

Never let negative thought under estimate yourself, your capability. If other doctors who can do it, why not you? WHY NOT YOU? Of course there is NO SHORTCUT to be one. A consultant. You think it is easy to become one? They also had struggled through tough years to be one. Yes.

Every king was once a weak baby, and every awesome building was once just a drawing on a piece of paper. And you? THINK!

Jadi dokter, satu pekerjaan yang mulia. Yes, doctors playing God. But yet, everything happen dengan IzinNya. Saving lives, isn’t that mulia? Imagine you save someone’s life or making someone to have a better quality of life. And that person able to beribadat and do good things because you’ve helped that person. Don’t you think “saham pahala” gets to you? Allah knows.
What other profession yang the customer really trust the person? None can beat doctor profession. So, use this opportunity to dakwah as well.
THINK PLEASE!

Positive mind set will definitely deliver Positive attitude!

However, the road is not easy and I never thought that god will answers my prayer so soon in giving everything in a month...alhmdulillah(praise Allah).

My dreams that are fulflilled:

I was DARE to DREAM! and NOW i BELIEVE anything is POSSIBLE..insyallah(with Allah's will). Just need to believe and work on it.. everthing starts with the WILL to DO IT!

MEr..De...Ka??not really..

picture taken during exam week...distracted for a while ;P

"start a day with thinking of serving instead of being served!"

Salam,

Finally,I am able to continue wiritng after restraining myself from writing my blog due to final exam..Alhamdulillah.Waiting for the result to come out next week.

From Facebook & yahoo messanger.I can see a lot of comments from my batchmates, especially posting-mates expressing their feelings toward the questions. Mostly, they are an expression of hatred, frustration and anxious. The positive thinking ones saying how relief they are from the obtacles they face.

Life is what you see and interprate the things happen to you. How you respond will determine how you will see things in live. Either positive or negative. Positive thoughts attracts the positive things to your life. You don't belive it eh?? You can read 'The Secret' by RHonda Byrne and learn to believe & think positive. You will also find out about the power of law of attraction when you started to belief.

Ash-Sharh 94:1-8
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Have We not caused thy bosom to dilate(melapangkan dadamu), (1) And eased thee of the burden (2) Which weighed down thy back; (3) And exalted thy fame? (4) But lo! with hardship goeth ease, (5) Lo! with hardship goeth ease; (6) So when thou art relieved, still toil (7) And strive to please thy Lord. (8)

GOd have send us reminders & words of comfort in the al-Quran. Look at verse 4 & 5. The verse repeats showing the strong reminder Allah wants us to be reminded.

"every negative things happen there always positive things behind it!"

Applying to our post exam emo..why not we think of the positive side of it.We should recall mistakes we done, find the answer for questions we don't know, recorrected our wrong and memorize the right answer. Therefore, if we are asked the same question, we already know the answer or easily recall the correct answer.

verse 6 means even after what happen, occupied your time with something that brings benefit. For me any good things can be choosen since the key to pleased God is amal ma'ruf nahi mungkar (do the good things, leave the bad things behind)

If you are not a muslim, i think you'll also agree about my point above..beacause humans are created of the instict of wanting good things in life and being good is apart of it.For example is the concept of 'Karma' in eastern religion (Hindu,Jain, Sikh & buddhist philosophies).Bottom line is,every religion teach us to do good deeds.

So, time occupying activites during my break wil be:
1.spring cleaning my room (mcm tongkang peacah due to exam week)-step by step :p
2.managing students society resposibilities as Exco Kebajikan 2- a lot of things to settle.
3.do elective posting at kelas khas at a primary school at Malacca-have to do background reading about special kids
4.duty as a Allah's servant, daughter to my parents & sister to my brothers.
5.have fun in vacation with family & friends.
6.Read a lot of non medical books.
7.Sports activities to get high & also secondary prevention of gaining weight..hehe

P/s:I always like the surah Ash-Sharh 94:1-8.I get the idea to put it in my blog
after reading '5 Tahun 5 bulan' written by Hlovate (finish reading in one day-just after exam yesterday..hehe).More books are asking to be read (",)

What is written down is a reminder to you and to myself who is still learning to be a better person.

Live to serve..

Salam..

We live to serve or being served?

This entry is based on a motivational talk given by my beloved role model Prof. Dr Muhaya Haji Mohamad, titled: Doctors Extraordinaire at PPUKM Auditorium last night (18/02/2010)

still in a procees in finishing her book...

This talk was organised by our final year seniors. Unfortunately it was done during our study week (3rd yr final exam started on 22/2) and during 4th years final year break( they finished their final exam about 2 weeks ago). Therefore not many choose to attend the talk. Credit to Alia who become the precipitating factor of my attendence (",)

Here are some of the notes I took that can be shared.Hopefully the recording by our university will be made into CD and distributed widely among us (as what Prof wish).

1. Life is about controlling your mind. We have to live the life by design not by default.

2. Regarding my question earlier. We should live to serve not live to served!! Every doctors should have this thoughts when they wake up in the morning. We should be the person who patients feel betters when they see us not vice versa.

3.Dare to dream!! Scientifically, there is neurolinguistic programming inside our body making our thoughts influnce our body. Therefore dream of what you want(with all your heart), you will get it one day. Not 'angan-angan Mat Jenin' - In my opinion, It is proven by the birth of 'The Secret'-a worldwide bestselling motivational book by Rhonda Byrne. Therefore, picture yourself of the future you want, and insyaallah(with the will of ALlah/God) it will happen.

4.To dream you must have roadmap in life: What you achieve is based on:
definitions of your vision
firmness of your purpose
steadiness of your faith
depth of our gratitude

5.Just do it!! Don't think. I really like this idea.Thinking before doing something is good, however it usually becomes too much preventing you of doing something good. Believe in yourself when your intention is for the good. I applied this right after the talk by initiating the taking picture session with Prof..causing others to take picture with her too (",)

6.Power of word is tremendous. When you tell a lie you will become weak. In my opinion, it is human's nature because we are created to do good as chaliph of the world. Therefore, don't cheat/lie in life, especially exam!!

7.Create a very good cirlce of influence by people you meet and books you read. I would like to suggest a few which influnce the talk also.I guess Prof also read these books. She did mention The 7th Habit of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. Another book I would like to suggest is The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. Credit to Lutfi for introducing me to these two books and Prof 2years ago (",) To be in circle of winners we should have this 3 focus in life : Health, wealth & wisdom.

8.Life is a MISSION.Keep on asking yourself how can I serve instead of ho can I bes served. How??
*help people as much to get God's help
*do things to best of your ability
*becoming the reason for people excelent
*forgive people

9.Before healing others heal yourself physically, spiritually, emotionally and socially.

10.
What your thoughts, they lead to attitude
what your attitudes, they lead to words
what your words, they lead to actions
what your actions ,they lead to habits
what your habits ,they determine your character
what your character, it determine your destiny.

11. Lets become host to God by
* be creative instead of competitive
* be kind instead of being 'right'wannabe
* be beauty
* be LOVE : Listen, overlook people mistake,Voice out good things, make Effort for it to work)
* be expansive
* be abundance
* be receptive-accept people(appreciate, acknowledge and Do NOT criticise them)

12. THe Magic 3-doing that we should have:
* Think of good thoughts
* Speak kind words
* Take good actions

These are all I can share. I hope I can do more than just that. The best always come from Prof Muhaya herself.
My dream & wishes:
1. able to have her as one of the speaker for National Medical Student CME(continuous Medical education) done at UKM in July by PERSIAP with SMMAMS(society of Malaysia Medical Association Medical Student) this year.
2. Get Prof's signature for her book: How to become a good & successful medical student, A holistic approach ( forgot to bring her book last night)

'change is permanent, personal development is a choice'

take one step at a time for change(s)..It takes 3 weeks to establised new habit(",)

May readers have benefit from this post..
For my medical student friends:May we become Extraordinary Doctors!!

L.O.V.E is....??

Salam,

Love is a state of feeling that can do tremendous things, either postive or negative. Because of love human can make the world a better place or destroy it.

There are two kinds of love: love between human and God(ALlah) and between human and god's creation(human, animals, nature, things)

We are blessed with 'unconditional love' that makes a family close to each other: Husband and wife tolerating each other, mothers' sacrifice for the child, father's hard work as breadwinner of the family, children obeying their parents.

Unconditional love is a love given without condition or wanting anything in return. It is a natural reaction of feeling that god creates for us humans to make a world a better place. For example, mothers are the best teacher of all since nothing can beat her influence of the child. Anything that she taught her children since young will be easily digested & followed.Isn't the reason behind this is the unconditional love??

I went to a talk organized by Malaysian Student's organization at Bandung on love between men & women(between Mars&Venus, two different creature sharing same genus & species-homo sapiens). What's the cronology of LOVE that brings two different hearts togather?
1.CRUSH
2.AMAZED-positive quality shown by the person that make you like him/her
3.FEARED-fearing of losing of having to share the special place in the person's heart.
4.ACCEPTANCE-accept the person's personality positve & negative
5.SACRIFICE-willing to do anything for that person
6.HOPE-hoping that the person will love you as much as you love him/her
7.LOYALTY-loyal to the person you love.

The best way to deal with it is by coupling reaction=MARRIAGE.Which is Nikah connecting people..NOT pre-marriage coupling reaction.

The world view premarriage couple as normal thing and chosing to only couple after marriage as a weird thing. I experienced that and I'm considered as one of the weird one. I choose to 'be weird' as I think premarriage coupling only brings more bad than good. Marriage means able to give commitment to another person, therefore no harm to wait for the right moment.

DOn't be like this cat who is trapped in love...

Today, during one of our common lecture, we learned about 'Dealing with uncertainties & death' for Personal & Professional Development (PPD) course . The doctor point out that besides the patient's condition, Love is a also another example of uncertainty...Doug Hubbard define Uncertainty as the lack of certainty, A state of having limited knowledge where it is impossibleto exactly describe existing state or future outcome, more than one possible outcome.

It is true love among humans, animals and all the creation of god is in a state of uncertainty. We always forget that there is a love that is 'certain' which is love to God (Allah). We experienced the love everyday and yet we always forget where the source comes from. The air we breathe, the delicious food that we eat, the beautiful creation of god that we able to appreciate are all the prove of love that god gives us.

No matter how much we adore, look up to or hope for a person there always be the uncertainty of the state of love.It might be 'crushed' anytime. The person or animal may died, the things that you like may destroyed or stollen. The Love of god is lasting, forever and never ends unless we choosen not to believe.

I think what i like to convey about ALlah's love is well written and sing in a song 'Open your eyes' by Maher ZAIn-which is another Maher Zain song i'll learn to play with my piano right after final exam as requested by my beloved twinning UKM-UNPAD friends.

May this post brings benefit to you and me (",)

Wasalam.

Music & lyrics works togather...

Salam,

Anugerah Juara Lagu fever just cured... I'm glad that all my favourite songs win the prizes.I love music...Maybe its the influence from my passion on playing instruments (piano & violin).

Whenever i hear a song i will concentrate on the music more and ignore the lyrics. Not until a couple years ago, a friend changed me to appreciate the lyrics also.

At the same time, the movie 'Music & lyric' came out played by Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. It makes me changed my perception on songs. To give a good impact to the listener, both music & lyrics have to be good. This is because, it have to be appreciated and understand altogather.

After i did that i realise that not all songs with good musics have nice lyrics. Some even have some bad and indecent meaning.

Last weekend during UKM Medical Student Society aka PERSIAP 35 years celebration Dinner, i played piano as a backup for my friend who sang solo. Eventhough its a nasyeed (islamic song), i think the song can be applied to anyone who's in sadness and feel loss. It is suitable for anyone who believes and put trust in god.

I was given the task a week earlier, within the day, i manage to play the whole song. It have a beautiful music & lyrics..

Insyaallah ( With god's willing)
by Maher ZAin

Everytime you feel like you cannot go on
You feel so lost
That your so alone
All you is see is night
And darkness all around
You feel so helpless
You can`t see which way to go
Don`t despair and never loose hope
Cause Allah is always by your side

Insya Allah3x
Insya Allah you`ll find your way

Everytime you can make one more mistake
You feel you can`t repent
And that its way too late
Your`re so confused, wrong decisions you have made
Haunt your mind and your heart is full of shame

Don`t despair and never loose hope
Cause Allah is always by your side
Insya Allah3x
Insya Allah you`ll find your way
Insya Allah3x
Insya Allah you`ll find your way

Turn to Allah
He`s never far away
Put your trust in Him
Raise your hands and pray
OOO Ya Allah
Guide my steps don`t let me go astray
You`re the only one that showed me the way,
Showed me the way 2x
Insya Allah3x
Insya Allah we`ll find the way

Candid picture at dinner...

Another favourite song of my is a theme song of a box office Indonesian Movie, Laskar Pelangi. It's about someone trying to persue his dream with enthusiasm and high spirit believing that one day he /she will prevail.

At the same time, the song keep reminding the listener to appreciate life eventhough life is hard. Lif is indeed WONDERFUL & MEANINGFUL Isn't it a good motivational song??

LASKAR PELANGI (soldier of the rainbow)by Nidji (an indonesian band)

Mimpi adalah kunci
Untuk kita menaklukkan dunia

Berlarilah tanpa lelah
Sampai engkau meraihnya

Laskar pelangi
Takkan terikat waktu
Bebaskan mimpimu di angkasa
Warnai bintang di jiwa

Menarilah dan terus tertawa
Walau dunia tak seindah surga
Bersyukurlah pada yang kuasa
Cinta kita di dunia

Selamanya...

Cinta kepada hidup
Memberikan senyuman abadi
Walau hidup kadang tak adil
Tapi cinta lengkapi kita

Laskar pelangi
Takkan terikat waktu
Jangan berhenti mewarnai
Jutaan mimpi di bumi

Menarilah dan terus tertawa
Walau dunia tak seindah surga
Bersyukurlah pada yang kuasa
Cinta kita di dunia

Menarilah dan terus tertawa
Walau dunia tak seindah surga
Bersukurlah pada yang kuasa
Cinta kita di dunia

Selamanya...

Selamanya...

Laskar pelangi
Takkan terikat waktu...

A patient's request..

Salam,

Its been a while i take my break from writing. Time is the most precious and valueable thing right now. However, since i have something i want to share i'll spend some of my time for this post.

This post is about what i've experienced from a patient I've met during my frist week at internal medicine ward..

One of clinical student's routine in the ward is talk to patient and gain their history of their disease/problem (a.k.a. history taking/clerking). So, i came across this patient, a middle age Malay gentleman. Generally he does not look ill or depressed.

He actually suffers from a mild stroke..and some other common stroke patients background history: Diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, history of chronic smoking..

The conversation about his illness is about 15 minutes but he talks about his insight and hopes on us future doctors and doctors for nearly an hour.hehe..imagine that..

Lesson 1 : Never do something to a patient without telling them what you are doing and things that the patient can anticipate...

Only recently, the ethical stduies is included in the medical school syllybus. The medical personnel who treat the Pak Cik fails to give proper 'informed consent'. That is the among the first thing to do which is provide an adequate infromation and get agreement from patient in anything you want to do to them.

What happen to him was he was injected with TB antigen for Mantoux test to see the presence of Tuberculosis. He was not informed on the effect which there will be a small rash at the side of injection and it can cause itchiness. What happen to him was, he scratch the injected site due to the itchiness and causing him to get a big swollen bump there. It happen to him years ago when he was admitted for TB at a governemnt hospital in our country.

Positive result of Mantoux test...it is only a temporary effect..

(Extra info: matoux test is a method to support the TB diagnosis. It is injected intradermally and the cell mediated response is within 48-72 hours is recorded. The response is usually shown as rash. COmmon Side effects is itchiness.Positive result is when the induration is >10mm(in people with moderate risk factor and high prevelance country).Induration is palpable raised hardened area of the skin

Lesson 2 : when someone is physically sick, they'll need more attention from their closed one(family, spouse& closed friends). If not, pshycologically the will get sick too..
He did mention that when he is warded, he feels lonely when nobody he knows around. When his children visit him, they didn't bother to talk to him or entertain him. It makes him feels sad and become a burden. He later inform his family members and they started to paying attention to him and visit often. it makes him feel happy and accept his stay at hospital.

My postulation is when someone is sick, the coping mechanism is also disturb. Therefore, it is helpful when there is something that can trigger your coping mechanism to become well and eventually that person will motivated to recover.

That is why people always bring something when they visit a sick person. Isn't it common to see a Get Well Soon card send with a basket full of fruits or a bouquet of flower???

This e-card was taken from http://www.123greetings.com/aff-bin/card/464/101594

Pshycological health can influence the major portion of our physical health.

However, the most important support is from the people you love..Money can't by happiness, Money can't buy love, Money can't buy health as well.

It is easily to get bored to be hospitalised. Therefore, pshycological health is easily affected also. It is much more worst because the is stay beacuse of our illness and we cannot do anything. They have to be independent and have to rely and trust on the medical personnels. The question is, are we capable enough to be trust on??

EXAMS!!..sharing is caring (",)-rewrite version

salam..

weird..my recent post was deleted after i edit it..so sad,have to re-write it back..hurmm..

It feels like it was just yesterday i enter UKMMC Cheras for clinical phase of my medical year. Beig the first batch of a new program(twinning UKM-UNPAD) is challenging as we have to face new syllybuse. Here, we have seniors who 'pampered' us with a lot of help in the ward and vice versa.

I would like to give my appreciation on behalf of my firends for those who help us, the newcomers in getting through our clinical phase.Certainly pre-clinical year and clinical year are two different situation. My two previous postings (surgery and o&G) did leaved me some valueble and wonderful experience.

Thank you for the knowledge shared. I think choosing not to share is selfish. You never know the benefit of sharing which bring a lot of good things to you. However, we should share something only when we are knowledgeble on the topic.Help yourself first before you help others.

Sharing with sincerity leave satisfying effect on the giver, Sharing with force leave hatred in you, Sharing for glory won't last forever
Sharing with good intention means you care....However better sharing something than doing nothing.

I hope everyone who reads this will enjoy and start sharing

the last on call......

Salam;

Alhamdullillah.. after a few moments of frustation, i am able to finish my 5th conduct of delivery today. It was fast, i don't have to wait for long.

What i like about my last on call today is i get to witness one of the most memorable event as a muslim twice and somehow today, i touched me. Guess what it is?? It is the Azan or Iqamah dat whispered by the father to their newborn child.(Info for non muslims:It is the first act of devotion representing the baby to world as Muslim).

Another intresting thing about the two deliveries is both are having their first child and best part is looking at the reaction of the father-to-be. I always like to see couples who are waiting for their first child. Of course they'll look worried, anxious and happy at the same time.Their inexperienced self showed some wittiness in managing the situation. In a sum, these kind of reaction gave me a sort of feeling that life is meaningful(eventhough i am not the one who experienced it).

Regardless the bad experienced..i find more enjoyment in labour room because of these meaningful experience and cute babies. People who ACCEPTs to get SCOLDED are NON-EGOISTIC people.Yeah, i get scolded.Sometimes it's my fault, sometimes its' someones fault and sometimes i get scolded with non-concrete reason. The best thing to do is reflex urself back and Improve!! Whatever it is...see u again labour room during 5th year(hopefully i don't flunk somewhere in between that needs me to repeat my year3)

P/S: i have short case this thursday..which me all the BEST LUCK in the world.AMIN!!

Engaged not yet MARRIED

Salam..

Yes i'm ENGAGED but not yet married to MEDICINE with white coat as the prove of our agreement . Gotcha...think i'll engaged to someone for real huh??(",)Hopefully i will wear the 'white gown' and get married to medicine in 3 years time. May god forbid any failures that can cause my engagement to be extended(repeat year) or ended(drop out)

This is my 6th week in surgical posting and i followed 5th year senior's long case assessment(thank u abg shah for inviting me and few other 3 years).MIne will be next week(huhu..takut nye). After everything comes towards the end, their supervisor Mr Azizi( a neurosurgeon) share some of his insight on medical life..He said "students,u all are married to medicine. Your future husband or wife will be your second (madu la kot)"

Marriage itself means COMMITMENT to someone else other than yourself.

From my understanding is, once you accept to enroll into Medical school, you have sign an agreement to become a doctor. Being one is not easy..A LOT to cover..memorise..skills to apply..Having a good communication skills is an advantage. We have to put OTHER PEOPLE 1st than your own need.Helping people is your priority.NOT money, power or social status

The MAIN JOB to medical students is STUDY and mastering taking patient's history. History taking is not somthing that you can take light. I use to think that it only need memorization. The truth is, it also needs some intelligence and thinking. It is like a maze that you have to solve.

First of all you have to identify the patients' main problem, ask relevent questions and then try to find other possibilities that might contribute to the problem.

Afterwards, base on your knowledge to differentiate the 1001 diseases manifestation, you have to choose the hypothesis of what might be the disease. At the end, you have to present your finding in the most concise way which may sounds easy. However,it also needs your ability to concise it the right way.Pratice Makes PERFECT!!.

Regardless the reality of the work, it is NOBLE to choose to be in this profession. Lesser burden to whoever think that the knowledge they gain from the patient is intresting and motivating. You'll think your life is more meaningfull to see patients leave you in better condition.

Wasalam (",)

P/s:
1. feel bad for patients who have bad prognosis...huhu. May they have strength to face it with courage and determination to live their life better.
2. I saw an amputation operation(below-knee) during my on call on friday.cool...bu kesian that pakcik to have a leg amputated.

1st week of 1st posting

Salam (peace)

So, I'm sure some of you are excited to know what happened to me during my first week of my clinical year.My first posting is SURGERY! So..here it goes:

In summary:

1. The first week always be the blurry one..The method of learning is TOTALLY DIFFERENT from pre-clinical years..NOBODY is there to tell you what to do. Everything comes from your own initiative and intelligence to find the opportunity. You won't know it till you experience it.

2. Regardless all from the above...I ENJOYED my condition right now in the CLINICAL way..so far...WHY??
* You get to see things that you can't get from books
* You apply and refresh what you learn during pre-clinical into 'real thing'
* We get exposure to real patient...real cases..COOL!!
* We get to know the hospital: how it really works with a lot of people working togather to help those in need
* You get to sharpened your communication skill by doing CLERKING( aka amnenesis)..this job is our main job in the ward..investigating the patients..
Sometiomes, i feel like i'm a police officer..hoho

3. I understand now why people says SURGERY is the 'inspirational posting'
* the doctors mostly are COOL...(get to see some Good looking faces to..hehe)
* watching surgery is a WONDERFULL experience
* less tense in this department
* the Operation theatre(OT) is fully air-cond...have to wear scrubs when entering the OT department.so..adala feel mcm surgeon

4. About the posting..there are 3 places you have to go:
* WARD : there are 2 ward 3rd year students are allowed to go to..ward 1 (men) and ward 2(women)
* CLINICS : here, you can learn a lot here..get to participate more in the procesdures
* OPERATION THEATER (OT): You can-see-only learning process but you should apply what you see with what you learn to make the process more benificial.

5. WOn't I get lost??
* Every students get a log book. This log book is fill with requirements that students have to fullfill during each posting and everything must be confirmed with the doctor or nurse signature.
* The seniors are kind and toughtful to organize the buddy system. Each junior have their own buddy(senior) to help out in surviving the clinical life. So, we can ask them about studies, books etc.

So, in conclusion...
to my UNPAD juniors..no need to worry..be motivated to looking forward to your clinical years at PPUKM.
To my self..i'm thinking of becoming a surgeon..hopefully i can succeed in everything I do and always feel motivated to learn.

MOTIVATION thats' DRIVE you to go FAR BEYOND THE SEAS..

Wasalam(peace be upon u who read this)

Friendly comperative religion(FCR).......

Salam(Peace be upon you)

I nearly decided to absent from this short seminar because of the long journey i had earlier of the day (Bali-Jakarta-Jatinangor,Bandung).What can i do...my last days at Indonesia are full with activities.

However, since the seminar is about comparing religions(which is something i never attend before), I finally choose to go. Alhamdulillah(TQ ALLah).. I made the right choice. It opened my mind into something new.

This is the first time the event is done at Universitas Padjadjaran. Thus,I would like to THANK the organizer(Biro Agama Islam Kelab Umno Bandung-B.A.I.K) to organize this wonderful event. However i would be more merrier and exciting if you all can invite the representative of other religion also..not only our other brother and sister in other religion. What's the use of comparison without them rite! Moreover, due to lack of time, FCR modules have to be compressed(tak cukup puas la..).Maybe next time rite(",).Definitely, I will join FCR in in Malaysia.

The presenter is Shah Kirit or well known as Bro Shah. He also bring his younger brother, Dinesh along. Both are Indians and still are. They didn't become Malay(RACE,cause you have to be born into it) but they become Muslim(RELIGION).Alhamdulillah(Thank u to Allah),they converted to Muslim for more than a decade already.

What is ISLAM?? Islam means total OBEDIENT and SURRENDER ,to get PEACE and BELIEVED in AUTHENTIC way to GOD(ALLAH). The similarity among other religion Christian, Hindu, Sikh is we believe GOD is ONE.The prove is stated in the source of the religion which is the Book of each religion(eg:Al-Quran in Islam, Bible in Christian).

Then, why not we just accept all religion since we all believe in ONE GOD??
The answer is worship GOD as how GOD wants us to worship GOD, not as how we think we want to worship GOD.

The source of Islam is Al-Quran and Hadiths. Al-Quran is the word of GOD given to us through the messenger,Muhammad(peace be upon him).Hadiths is whatever Muhammad do, give speech about or whatever happen in front of him that he leave a comment on.

If you compare Al-QUran(exist 1400 years ago)with modern sience, you will astonished to find the similarities. So how could it be the word of devil since Muhammad cannot write nor read. Moreover, modern technology doesn't exist 1400 years ago.

Muhammad also was awarded the title of Al-Amin by the Arabic Quraisy before he become a messenger because of his sincerity and never tell lies since he was a child. He was a very trusted man in Mecca. He is a PERFECT man for us human to follow as an example. You will say nobody is perfect. But,believe it or not, Muhammad(pbuh) was someone that was born with PERFECT qualities.

Thus, what ever that is not stated in the Al-Quran and Hadiths is NOT ISLAM!! Don't judge Islam by the act of their believers, but judge it by the two sources i mentioned above.Even muslims also get confuse!! I hope everyone will go back and use their given INTELLIGENCE to find what is ISLAM from this two sources.

We may born as MUSLIM but we are not sure we can die as MUSLIM. The most important in ISLAM is we die as MUSLIM.Thus, regardless you born as Muslim or non-Muslim, we are the same..Islam believe two phase in life before and after puberty. We all born as Islam, innocent and with no sin. After puberty you will be judge and your sins will be count. GOD gives us the intuition to find him.Let us use the INTELLIGENCE to find the truth.

WAllahualam

WAsalam(may peace be upon you)

ESQ,a journey to find a meaningful life....

Salam.......

As you can see from my blog address, i think that life should be wonderful. However, i always pray for guidance to have it meaningful. For example, my life as a student at UNPAD becoming more meaningful when i join the extracurricular activities by PKPMI,KUBI,BEM AS-Sifa'and other student organization in UNPAD..especially medical faculty.

It's challenging but a good learning process when enthrust me into several leadership position in the student's organization. Don't i ever feel tired to balance it with studies? Frankly yes, however i will rather choose to have a more meanigful life rather staying put doing nothing except study. I hope it continues when i continue at UKM.

Regardless what I've done till now...Do i ever achieve any truly meaningful life??
I just discover it after i join a motivational program by ESQ( Emotional, Spiritual Quotient). To discover it i choose to join ESQ instead of Sports' Day by PKPMI(which i really want to participate).I'm glad i choose ESQ!!It was founded by Ary Ginanjar Agustian. For more info you can visit the website here http://www.esqway165.com/

My fellow bloggers who joined...we are the only Malaysians

The ESQ way
use what have been thought by our prophet Muhammad pbuh 1400 years ago which are 165(1 ihsan, 6 pillars of iman, 5 pillars of Islam). Since from primary school we are exposed to intelligent quotient method of learning. Thus our emotional and spiritual quotient are based on the initiative of our parents to guide us, the environment we live in and the will of ourselves to learn it more.

ESQ thought as that Al-Quran is not only for Muslim but Al-Quran and Islam are for humans. So, other religion can also apply this concepts by adjusting them according to their own religion. In fact, there was a Buddhist among the participant. So far, 10% of the alumni is non-Muslim.

The theme song is Demi matahari by Snada(u can find it at u-tube)...it is based on Ash-Syams,chapter91..verses 1-6..

By the sun and his brightness, (1) And the moon when she followeth him, (2) And the day when it revealeth him, (3) And the night when it enshroudeth him, (4) And the heaven and Him Who built it, (5) And the earth and Him Who spread it, (6) And a soul and Him Who perfected it (7) And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it.

The learning process is very interesting which i haven't found in any program yet. Before we start, we have a few rules to obey. Both of your brains are working because they use audio visual method.Songs are played while the modules are given. We dance or exercise during break in between modules. It makes the learning process FUN and EASY to absorb. The way to learn is 'BERSENANG-SENANG'(relax and fun).

ESQ teach us to integrate our IQ,EQ and SQ by making ALLAH(GOD..the creator)as the center of everything.During ESQ, they taught us more on EQ and SQ by using verses from al-Quran.They lead us to learn 99 names of Allah(asma al- husna) and let us apply it to ourselves.

There is an intresting fact that we learned about Kaizen. It is a concept which helps Japan becoming better, beating the West with Bullet train(fastest in the world) and car industry by turning something bad into a better thing. Actually, we way is in Al-Quran if we understand the true meaning of Al-fatihah..subahannallah.If you want to know more you have to join ESQ.

How to join them?? If you live in Jatinangor, there will be a training near Al-Islam Hospital on early May. I already took information on ESQ at Malaysia and insyaallah,I will join their program there. As Alumni, you can their training and programs for free.

ESQ are well recognize in the world especially at their neighboring countries like Malaysia.

So friends, i would like to suggest you all to join it. Alhamdulillah in my last month at Indonesia, I am able to participate in ESQ at its country of origin.

I hope the effort of ESQ...
1....to change Indonesia into a better country with out coruption( Golden country)will be achieved.
2....to humans realize the meaningful of life goes on.
3....can make MALAYSIA achived vision 2020..Malaysia Boleh!!

Wasalam

P/s: About my previous entry, there's almost similar true story about it we learned during ESQ about an ESQ alumni. When the loved one died, people expect here to be hysteric. However, she didn't but she says to the lifeless body..Daddy, i know that this will happen someday. We are his humble servant and one day i will meet him too, thus i will always pray for you and prepare myself before i meet HIM...

So friends, the moral of the the story is always believe in Qada' and Qadar Allah(fate by Allah)

Life is as brief as candle

Salam....

Well finally I've finished packing up my belongings for shipping to Malaysia. The result is almost 1m cubic of spaces used....about 25 A4 boxes..

Quite a lot eh??85% of it are my collections of books..

However today i was informed a SHOCKING & SAD news. One of my first year junior's mother just passed away. A few weeks ago she was hospitalized for stroke and he went back home(Malaysia). They will sit for the final year exam on April 20th(just in a few days ).

Questions suddenly fills in my head... What if something like that happen to me? It is just before a final exam that will decide weather you PASS or FAIL(have to repeat the year).Am i STRONG enough to cope and deal with it??

Then i remember this verses from al-Quran, taken from sura Al-Baqara:

Allah tasketh not a soul beyond its scope. For it (is only) that which it hath earned, and against it (only) that which it hath deserved. Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget, or miss the mark! Our Lord! Lay not on us such a burden as thou didst lay on those before us! Our Lord! Impose not on us that which we have not the strength to bear! Pardon us, absolve us and have mercy on us, Thou, our Protector, and give us victory over the disbelieving folk. (286)
Things happen and ALLAH knows that we can cope with it!!

O ye who believe! Seek help in steadfastness and prayer. Lo! Allah is with the steadfastn>. (153)
Be STEADFAST!!

And surely We shall try you with something of fear and hunger, and loss of wealth and lives and crops; but give glad tidings to the steadfast, (155)

So, any unfortunate events or bad things happen just remember this zikr......
'LAHAULA WALA QUWATA ILLA BILLAH HIL ALIYIL A’ZIM'
'Tiada Kekuatan dan Daya Melainkan dari Allah yang Maha Tinggi lagi Maha Mulia'

why?? because if BAD things happen...always rely on HIM,our creator!!
Then you'll appreciate more things you take for granted.Ada Hikmah disebalik musibah yang melanda..

Simple examples are:
if you sick, you'll taking care of your health more..
if you broke or have no money, you'll plan on saving next time
if you lose someone dear or close to you...you'll appreciate the moment you had with them and lead BETTER life

because...
LIFE is WONDERUL,it is MEANINGFUL but it also BRIEF as CANDLE.

Wasalam.

EMBRYO...

EMBRYO membawa erti Englithen Your Mind, Body, Spirit & Soul.

Subahannallh...

Setibanya kami disana kami menyertai kelompok masing-masing.

2)BAKSOS...menjadi penjual barangan terpakai.

Amal Ma'ruf Nahi mungkar.

Wawancara bersama hafizah Pesantren

ayat pertama bermaksud Demi masa...mengapa Allah swt meletakkan demi masa??

Usrah pagi bersama KOAS

Aktiviti terakhir EMBRYO adalah 'the cream of the cake' iaitu OUTBOUND!!

Yell(cheer) kelompok kami: Firqun wahid, kompak mantap, keren habis,Allahuakbar!:

For my first homecoming entry,I would like to share what I got during a very intresting ceramah I attended 2 months ago by Ustaz Darlis Fajar.

It relates with the student life I’m living right now. However, I think, it can be applied also in the future because ‘man is a life long learner’. Everyday we may learn new things from the environment and people.A simple example is like learning the new direction to a place. Isn’t it a new knowledge and you gain it through a learning process from someone who knows the way??

So, here are the summary of what I got;

  1. The best way to lead a Student life is a balanced life that fills with academic, religious and extracurricular activities (i.e: sport, clubs or student board)
  2. Mindset on life: Qada’ & Qadar
  • always ready to faced the challenge because Allah always test us whether we realize about it or not( refer to surah Al-Ankabut below,ayyat1-4).
  1. Alif Lam Min

  • there’s a solution in every hardship (refer to surah Al-insyirah,verse 94)
  • always ask from Allah whatever you desire with doa and prayer
  • Leave your selfishness and ego behind!!

  1. Repeating as learning; Allah actually set us an example by making al-Quran repeat the same stories in a few of it surahs…Why Allah do this? This is because repeating can make us understand it more clearly and memorize it easier.
  2. Monkey see, monkey do;

It doesn’t mean you have to be a monkey…hehe..the message is you repeat the positive things you see or observe. Allah give us ‘akal’ to differentiate good and bad. Thus, that makes the difference between human and monkey.

  1. Believe that Success will always be yours.
  2. Just Go with the Flow….follow your own destiny wisely.
  3. Try to get out from the ‘resting zone’.Make the effot to be better.
  4. DO IT!! Doa,Usaha,Ikhlas,Tawwakal….i like this mnemonic. I make it as my motto..hehe

Actually the message he tries to convey was something that is logic and the best part of it, he relates it with our beloved holy Al-Quran.
